2018 and earlier
In 2017 I decided to take an oil painting class at a community centre. This was mainly for me to set aside some time for myself to get outside of the house and paint. At the time my son was 3 years old and I was in definite need of some "me" time! I had always used acrylic paints and thought I would give oils a try. I soon fell in love with oil paints.
In 2018 I took the leap and applied to become a member of the Walkerville Artists' Co-op. It is an artist-run gallery where you have a 4' wall space to display your work. One of the best perks for me was that I was now connected to the local artist community. The other members had a lot of knowledge about what events to participate in, how to sell your art, and other valuable tips. Joining the co-op took me wishing to be an artist, to actually being one. I haven't looked back since.
